an experimental queer video collaboration/ pornographic reconstruction of the 1939 film
The Wizard of Oz and the L Frank Baum Oz books.
The project is a constellation of performances reconfiguring themes of surrender, transcendence,
sensuality, spectacle, queerness, quest, decadence, endurance, and safety.
Shooting began in March of 2009 in San Francisco, and is expected to continue for approximately one year. Anticipated locations include Berlin, Coney Island, Ida (Tennessee), and Sao Paulo.
The project will include a variety of performances, ranging from large-scale social spectacle, choreographed dance, pornography/BDSM, psychedelic endurance ("character development") and travelogue.
Each character will emerge in the frame to perform their vision of Oz, then pass off the baton to the next incarnation. All personas will be iterations based on the Oz and Baum oeuvre, as well as the lives of the collective members. Follow the ruby slippers as they pass from foot to foot, moving through a mélange of bodies, perversions, modalities, and scenes, all possessed by that which lays beyond the rainbow.
